An auxiliary generator is supposed to be capable of delivering reliable energy in case of a failure in the primary source of electricity. Nevertheless, just checking the operation of the generator occasionally is not sufficient for ensuring that it is able to cope with the specified load. There is such a thing as generator load test.
The process of generator load testing is a process whereby a generator is connected to the load bank that places an electrical load on the generator. The generator is run at various loads while engineers observe various key aspects such as voltage, frequency, current, engine temperatures, oil pressure, and the performance of the generator.
Unlike simple no-load testing, load testing puts a generator through realistic conditions and makes it possible to detect any problem that might not show up during no-load tests.

Generator load testing is not just the process of turning on a generator and seeing if it starts. This procedure enables you to assess the performance of your generator when loaded with electricity and find out if there are any problems in this connection, thus reducing risks associated with running your generator with little or no load.
